Summer

The sun is a banana slug, lazy and content –
Floating in the blue like we do.
The sun is a little fox, playful and intriguing –
Always finding time for one more small adventure.
The sun meets the sea like we meet one another,
Leaping and crashing and sparkling – brighter together.
We don’t need a hammer to build our escape –
Our imaginations will do.
We can journey to a pirate cove, a castle full of ghosts,
A mermaid world, a fairyland, a planet all our own…
They dissolve in one another like paper in a stream,
Expanding and changing and dancing like we do.
We are fireflies, inextinguishable, if only for today.
We are everywhere the light is, shining in the dark.
