Poem by a Bird

I met your eyes and all the world was blue.
And breaking like the golden rays of dawn,
My steady heartbeat in a moment flew
Completely out of rhythm.
You listened as deep as the ocean.
You saw as wide as the horizon.
In a barren desert, you were a tree.
You are as strong as the whistling wind of winter
And as welcome as the first warm day of spring.
You wear the wisdom of every song.
I gave you trinkets and a wish.
You gave me my flock and my wings.
